The season-ending Bud Light Ironman National will host the inaugural Legends Race this weekend in Utah - otherwise known as the best idea EVER! These “Legends” have certainly earned their place in our sport’s history and the fans are eager to see them on the starting gate again. We’re fortunate that a few have taken some time away from their elite training schedules to join us tonight!
RCH/Soaring Eagle/Jimmy John’s Suzuki’s Ricky Carmichael is the winningest rider in our sport’s history, and you don’t achieve that by losing very often. I expect the competitive juices will be flowing as these riders are instantly transported back in time when the gate drops. We’ll get the GOAT’s thoughts on the race and bench race about RCH’s year and beyond.
Kevin Windham is one of the most beloved riders our sport has ever seen. His popularity with the fans resonated throughout his career and they can’t wait until he takes off his cowboy boots and puts on some motocross boots for this weekend. Let the pancake-flat whips and heel-clickers commence from the retired part-time farmer.
Jeff Stanton never really retired. Rumor has it he trains like Rocky did in Siberia preparing for Drago pretty much year round. There was some spy footage of him doing upside-down sit-ups from his hayloft and carrying a telephone pole up a snowy summit, but it has “disappeared” after the legends' race was announced. Another rumor was flying around that he wanted it to be one moto and then one round inside the octagon last-man-standing style, but couldn’t get is past the lawyers. Either way Mr. Stanton will be ready to go this weekend.
Make sure to catch all the action on MAVTV, NBCSN and www.promotocross.com this Saturday!
