Title fights just solidified here in Houston, with Ryan Villopoto absolutely dominating the 450 main event in Houston to further extend his points lead. He had a big heat race crash, shook it off to steal a Semi win over Eli Tomac, and then holeshot the main and took off. Justin Barcia continued his recent run of strong riding with second ahead of Ken Roczen. Trey Canard looked solid as he continues his return from injury with fourth. James Stewart, sick all day, saw his three-race win streak snapped and finished fifth.
In 250 west, Jason Anderson proved you don’t need to race a 450 during the break, he jetted away with his fourth win of the season on his Rockstar KTM, and extended his points lead since title rival Cole Seely got a bad start and ended up fourth. Anderson had some pressure from Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki teammates Dean Wilson and Justin Hill, but then Hill went down in the whoops while running third. Wilson made a few runs at Anderson though and got within striking distance on the last lap, but couldn’t find a line to make a move. Malcolm Stewart rode well and logged his second-straight podium dating back to the last 250 West race in San Diego. Anderson’s point lead is now 11 over Seely.
