Thor Grabs Six Titles at SC and RCSX
A small group of Thor amateur riders showed up in a big way at both the Thor MX Spring Classic at Millcreek MX and at the Ricky Carmichael Daytona Amateur Supercross Championship.
Starting the 2013 amateur season off was the stop in Pell City, Ala. at the always challenging Millcreek MX track. Leading the way was Joey Crown who earned two titles in both the 85 (12-14) Stock and Modified classes, while also capturing second in the Supermini 1 (12-15) class. In the 85 (9-11) Stock class, Pierce Brown earned himself a championship, and took second in the 85 (9-11) Modified class.
On the big bikes, Matthew Burkeen collected a title in the College B/C (16-24) class in addition to his second-place finish in the 450 B modified class, while Cody Gragg added to the Thor championship total with a title in the Four Stroke Open.
After competition was completed in Alabama, Crown headed to the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Fla. for the Rickey Carmichael Amateur Supercross Championship. He was joined by fellow Thor rider Jordan Bailey and the two riders represented Thor is impressive fashion. Between the two, neither of the riders finished lower than fourth, with Bailey taking home a championship in the 85cc (9-13) class. Crown narrowly missed the championship in the Supermini (12-16) class, where he finished runner-up and also took a third-place finish in the Mini Sr. (12-15) class.
With so much racing action already taking place, the riders now head to meet up with the Thor MX support team at the GNC Finals at Oak Hill Raceway starting Wednesday, while racing at the James Stewart Spring Classic starts at Freestone Raceway next Wednesday.
