Although he wasn't the absolute fastest rider in practice, San Manuel Yamaha's Josh Hill - who says he has three fractured bones, although he wouldn't say what they are - had the dog-leg straightaway after the start dialed, and part of the reason for this was that he was the only rider jumping a quad jump in that rhythm section that allowed him to downside a hump on the inside of the track, which straightened the dogleg out. Most of the other riders were tripling to the outside, and some others were tripling to the inside, then hopping over the inside hump before tackling the triple. Hill's line was clearly faster.
