Namur Track Walk, Part 2: One Lap Around the World's Most Famous Motocross Track
Our friend and contributor Rob Andrews was lucky enough to get to race several 500cc Grand Prix events at the Citadelle in Namur, Belgium. It’s arguably the most famous motocross track in history. But it’s been closed to dirt bike races since 2007, unfortunately. Andrews, whose book The Inside Line is an amazing motocross memoir, recently visited and videoed the old Belgian fortress for a guided track walk.
It's literally a walk down the memory lane of motocross, because Namur was the epicenter of Grand Prix motocross from 1947 to 2007. Andrews not only points out where the track ran around what is essentially a national park in Belgium, he tells stories about what exactly happened at certain junctures. And since the first video came out, readers and followers have been supplying him with old photos from races gone by. Check it out.
