After several years as the Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull KTM team, the 250cc squad made the switch to GasGas motorcycles for the 2021 season. The GasGas brand was brought into the “KTM Group” as KTM, Husqvarna, and GasGas made up the trio of companies own by Pierer Mobility. The newly named Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GasGas Factory Racing team signed Justin Barcia as its sole 450cc rider and Pierce Brown, who came over from the Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull KTM team, and Michael Mosiman, who moved over from the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna squad.

Of course, Barcia earned the brand its first AMA Supercross win at the 2021 Houston 1 Supercross in his very first race aboard a GasGas MC 450F. Fast forward to July and the middle of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship and Barcia claimed the Spring Creek National overall win to claim the brand’s maiden AMA Motocross overall win after with his 1-2 moto finishes. Mosiman grabbed his maiden 250SX main event win at the 2022 San Diego Supercross (GasGas’ first 250cc win) then later claimed a moto win at the Hangtown Motocross Classic in June, although his second moto DNF ruined a shot at the overall win, meaning the brand has yet to claim a 250cc AMA Motocross overall win.

This trio of Barcia, Brown, and Mosiman completed the roster for the 2021, 2022, and 2023 season, however, Mosiman will not be returning for the 2024 season, as long-time Kawasaki racer Ryder DiFrancesco now fills the second 250cc spot alongside Brown. California native DiFrancesco will make his Monster Energy AMA Supercross debut this coming year, although it has yet to be determined which coast the rookie will race. Max Lee, son of Troy Lee, will return as team manager for the season consecutive year.

Over the weekend at the ’24 team intro it was announced GasGas and Troy Lee Designs have signed a new three-year deal to remain on the red MC 250F and 450F models. The full press release from GasGas is below, with some info on the new GasGas Moto pedal-assist bicycle leading the release and info on the ’24 team and new extension with Troy Lee Designs towards the bottom of the release.

Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GasGas Factory Racers Cruise Into The 2024 SMX Season With Some Fun in the Sun

Join the action, own the urban playground! The super-fun GasGas MOTO is now available at authorized dealers across North America!

To get the GASGAS MOTO party started, our very own Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing athletes joined us in Huntington Beach, California to welcome this exciting new product into the market and celebrate the inking of a renewed deal with our valued partner, Troy Lee Designs, ahead of the 2024 SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX) season.

Beach cruiser meets bold moto style – GASGAS has raised the bar with the first bike in the urban cruiser segment to develop a contemporary styling with supermoto aesthetics. Where traditionally urban bikes follow function over form, the GASGAS MOTO proves you can have both with its unique and daring style.

Ensuring simplicity in design, the durable, and very red, steel frame creates a relaxed riding position that’s ‘one-size fits-all’ thanks to its extra-long bench seat. 20” wheels compliment the look and feel of this two-wheeled party bike!

But we felt that wasn’t enough. So, we’ve upped the potential of this one-size-fits-all urban cruiser to create even more fun for the North American markets. Available in two options, both the MOTO 1 and the MOTO 2 feature the strong, reliable, and super powerful rear hub H550 motor by renowned manufacturer Bafang.

Class 2 pedal-assisted with throttle grip up to 20mp/h, the MOTO 1 features a peak power output of 500W with a maximum torque of 70Nm. For thrill seekers we’ve pushed the excitement levels even more with the MOTO 2. Also Class 2, its power output is increased to 750W.

Both the MOTO 1 and MOTO 2 are equipped removable batteries for ease of charging. The MOTO 1 comes with a 504 Wh battery, while the higher-powered MOTO 2 features a 672 Wh battery. A compact, handlebar mounted display unit, with Bluetooth allows further tuning and customization possibilities.

When it comes to being the life of the party, no one does it better than the Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing team! Coming in hot for 2024 with a rad lineup of 450 and 250 riders, this year’s squad is fully locked in with Max Lee as Team Manager for the second year. Adding style and flare to the team’s aesthetics, we’re proud to continue our successful relationship with Troy Lee Designs (TLD) for another three years. As a longtime partner of the KTM Group and our motorsports efforts, TLD was a founding force of GASGAS Factory Racing’s entry into U.S. SX/MX racing and we couldn’t be more proud of where the team is after three seasons together.

Troy Lee:

"I feel super privileged to continue our partnership with GASGAS for our race team. GASGAS is becoming more technical and advanced than ever before, not only on the motorcycle front but with bicycles too, which has been an amazing opportunity for me to collaborate on both. I am proud to team up with Stefan Pierer and the entire KTM Group for its factory efforts. I’m stoked to go racing with the coolest team on the coolest bikes. Let's go 2024!”

Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing Team Manager, Max Lee:

“I am very excited for the 2024 race season. We have a new 250 rider who joined the group and we are already in full swing training for A1. It’s been a blast getting to work with these guys and I’d like to thank everyone from GASGAS and Troy Lee Designs for the support and plan to have an outstanding next year with this team. We have a lot of positives to take away from the ‘23 season and we plan to keep building this off-season and be fighting for race wins come January!”

In the premier class, Justin Barcia is back in action for ’24 aboard the MC 450F Factory Edition. Barcia claimed six podium finishes in his ’23 450SX campaign, one of which was a win at East Rutherford, New Jersey and he’s hungry for more! Most recently on the mend from collarbone surgery, Barcia is taking the time to properly heal so he can come out swinging when the gate drops for A1 in January.

As a longtime TLD athlete and original member of the GASGAS Factory squad, Pierce Brown is back for his fourth season on the MC 250F Factory Edition. Brown ended the SX season with three top-fives in the Western division, but bad luck kept him off the box and on the sideline for the first half of the outdoor season. For ’24, Brown is feeling fresh and ready to get on the gas!

The team’s newest recruit, Ryder DiFrancesco, is underway with pre-season prep on his new MC 250F Factory Edition as he eagerly awaits his rookie 250SX campaign with a brand-new team and set up. At 18 years old, Ryder D is ready to prove that age is just a number in the big leagues!

Justin Barcia:

“I always look forward to these team events, the crew always finds a good location and we have a lot of fun and hang out with the team. Going into ‘24, I’m amped! I had some signs of brilliance in ‘23 SX but unfortunately, I had a little bit of tough luck. I’m just looking forward to improving all the things I worked on in ‘23 that I wasn’t able to fully show and if I would have put everything together a little earlier and not had a couple injuries we would have been in that fight. Obviously, the bike is really good, the team is really good and I’m looking forward to having a really fun season with my family, of course, watching my son grow up but also going out there and fighting for those wins and the championship. Can’t wait!”

Pierce Brown:

“I’m excited for the 2024 season! I’ve been feeling really good on the bike and I’m excited to get some redemption in the supercross and motocross seasons.”

Ryder DiFrancesco:

“I am excited to go racing in 2024 with an all-new look! I have always wanted to race for Troy since I went to my first-ever Supercross race and I’ve been having so much fun with the team and learning the new bike.”

To celebrate the GASGAS MOTO dropping into North American dealers, we’re hosting a public event in the heart of Huntington Beach, Calif. and you’re invited! We’ll also have some MOTO demo bikes to test ride too. So, come and find us at Sahara SandBar and we’ll tell you more. Bring Your Heat!

With the GASGAS MOTO 1 already available at North American dealers, availability for its MOTO 2 sibling will resume in the weeks to come.
