GEICO Honda’s Jeremy Martin went down hard in the second 250 moto today at Muddy Creek. The crash was not shown on the broadcast, but Martin was seen holding his lower back.
According to Racer X’s Steve Matthes, Martin is fully responsive and has full movement.
Martin is on the way to the hospital.

The GEICO Honda Team has released an update via its social media. The post reads as follows:
Today did not go as planned for @jeremymartin6 at Muddy Creek. After the start of the second moto, Jeremy had a bad crash that would result in a burst fracture of his L1 vertebrae. He has full mobility and is fully conscious. He will be meeting with a neurosurgeon specialist tomorrow morning to further review his condition. Thank you to the Alpinestars Medical Crew and the staff at Bristol hospital for all their help. We will keep you all updated on his injury.

Racer X has been told that Jeremy Martin met with a neurosurgeon today and that he will undergo surgery tomorrow (Monday) to stabilize. Recovery time is expected to be around two months. He can walk and begin therapy almost immediately after surgery. Surgery is expected to be around three hours, we’re told.
