Nihilo Concepts
Now, getting back to losing axle nuts in the sand dunes. Being the hack that I am, I once forgot to fully tighten my axle nut after setting the chain tension. That would have sucked even at a regular day at the track, but I was headed to Dumont Dunes, roughly twelve hours away from my NorCal residence. When we arrived, of course the first thing I did was immediately fire up my bike and rip all over the place until felt something funny coming from the back. I looked down and saw an empty axle tip. Needless to say, watching my idiot buddies have fun blitzing the dunes for the next several days while I twiddled my thumbs in the relentless desert heat was about as fun as driving screwdrivers underneath my fingernails. Had I had a self-locking NyLock axle nut from Nihilo Concepts (available for KTMs), my axle nut would have stayed put and I would have been shredding the gnar instead of contemplating hanging myself with a tie-down. Don’t be like me. Pick up a Nihilo axle nut and tear it up.
As long as we’re on the subject of things that suck, let’s talk worn out brake pedal tips. Other than walking and losing your nuts, is there anything worse than barreling into a corner to put a block pass on someone and feeling your foot slip off the smooth, worn, brake-pedal tip at the critical moment? Best case scenario you T-bone the poor sap and you both remount and moto on. Worst case scenario you smash into him, break your wrist and he gets mad and kicks your ass. Don’t get your ass kicked—pick up a sharp, grippy, machined aluminum Nihilo Concepts brake tip for your Kawasaki and make those block passes stick.
Speaking of things that stick, how about some Nihilo Concepts grip tape for your frame? Unless of course you have something against improving grip and protecting your frame from dings and scratches. Sets come precut and Nihilo says the materials they use are super flexible and are able to roll over edges and corners without creasing or peeling back off after one moto. That’s quite an improvement from the old days of round steel frames and skate-shop grip tape!
