  • Miller Motorsports Park Announces Amateur MX Showdown

TOOELE VALLEY, UTAH — Miller Motorsports Park is pleased to announce the creation of the Miller Motorsports Park Amateur Motocross Showdown, an amateur motocross event that will support the Zions Bank Utah National, Round 12 of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship.

“We are really excited about the Miller Motorsports Park Amateur Motocross Showdown,” said Dan McKeever, Vice President of Operations for Miller Motorsports Park. “Adding motocross to our schedule has been a very steep learning curve. We wanted to get the first year of pro motocross under our belts before we tackled an amateur event. To aid in the process we’ve enlisted the help of David Harvey, the amateur race director from California’s legendary Hangtown track, to show us the ropes. With his help, and a lot of hard work on our part, we’re confident that this is going to be a huge success.”

The Miller Motorsports Park Amateur Motocross Showdown will take place on Friday, August 22. It will be an independently sanctioned event, run to AMA rules regarding bike size, classifications, etc., and will be hand-scored. Riders must race at the highest skill level attained in any other racing series or organization, or face disqualification.

There will be 19 classes competing. Pro classes are 250 Pro; 450 Pro; 25+ A; 30+ A; and 40+ A. Amateur classes are 65 Open through 11; 85 Open through 15; Supermini through 15; Women 9-13/Women 14+; 250 Novice; 250 Intermediate; 450 Novice; 450 Intermediate; School boy through 16; College boy 17-29; 25+ B; 30+ B; and 40+ B.

The top third of every amateur class will receive awards, and 100 percent of the entry fees for the pro classes will be distributed among the top third of all pro classes.

Class pricing is as follows: $50 for a rider’s first class, $40 for the second class and $30 for the third class. The entry fee for the Pro Classes is $50. Camping (including two tickets to the Zions Bank Utah National) is $150. The spectator fee is $10; riders and children 11 and under will not be charged a spectator fee. Zions Bank Utah National tickets are available at $40 for adults, $20 for children 11 and under and an early-entry pit pass is $20.
