The 2014 AMSOIL Arenacross, featuring Ricky Carmichael’s Road to Supercross, has featured incredible racing through its first three rounds of competition, producing three different winners in five nights of action. One of the riders that have emerged as a formidable contender thanks to a pair of Main Event wins and a best overall finish of third is Road to Supercross competitor Jacob Hayes.
This weekend, the championship will complete the first quarter of the 2014 season by visiting Greensboro, N.C., for the first time since 2009 for the fourth round of the championship on Saturday night from the Greensboro Coliseum. Growing up in nearby Liberty, Hayes calls Greensboro home and his anticipated homecoming is generating a lot of excitement as victory is within reach for the 20-year-old rider.
Hayes is just one of several riders this season that have put the Road to Supercross into the spotlight. He and fellow up-and-coming riders like Aaron Plessinger, Keith Tucker, and Colt Nichols have shown no intimidation towards their more experienced counterparts and as a result have achieved success in the early part of the 2014 season.
Thanks to the confidence in his ability to run at the front of the field and battle for wins, Hayes’ accomplishments currently have him sitting fifth in the Arenacross Class standings, just 24 points out of the lead. With five rounds remaining until the Race to the Championship, Hayes is in a great position to make a run at a potential title in his first season of AMSOIL Arenacross competition.
