RIP Brian "Cookie" Cook
We received this tragic letter about a motorcross rider that was killed by a drunk driver on Friday July 6. We send our deepest regards to his family and friends.
My name is Corey Burnett and I'm from Bainbridge, New York. Early July 6 Brian Cook, a local District 3 Expert/A rider was struck and killed by a drunk driver while he was changing a flat tire on the side of the road around the Cortland/Syracuse area.
At the age of 26, a lot of the people he grew up racing with are now done racing, but still keep in touch with the sport of motocross.
I myself was not close to him, but I raced against him many times and he was not only a great competitor, but one that always had fun in life. Matt Babbitt (#987 national number) was a really close friend to him and he will be racing at RedBud. He was a great friend to a lot of people and was always smiling.
Like I said, I don't know him personally except for on the race track, but I know it is especially important for people to come together in the toughest of times.
