Racer X Cancels April Fool's Joke

Given light of recent developments in the motocross world, Racer X Online regretfully announces our decision to cancel our plans to participate in April Fool's 2011 and forego this year's planned hoax.
"It wasn't long ago that we practically owned April Fool's," said Racer X founder Davey Coombs. "The Stefan Everts video. Ricky Carmichael to race two classes. Three-strokes... That stuff was golden. But we live in an ever-changing world, where the news cycle is happening in real time, and it's hard to pull off anything when so many of our readers are on the lookout for anything suspicious this time of year, or even just out of the ordinary. These are strange days anyway... Just watch the news. It's like truth is stranger than fiction nowadays. How can we even compete at this level anymore?"
This year's joke was in the late planning stages. It called for the combined forces of Racer X Online, all 259,694 of Racer X's Facebook fans, an orchestrated Twitter-bombing campaign, the giant overhead TV screens at Cowboys Stadium, Jason Lawrence, Miss Supercross, moto chaplain Steve Hudson, two U.S. Customs officials, and a baby unicorn.
"We sunk a lot of time and beer money into this," explained Coombs of the disappointment in pulling the plug so close to production. "Oh well, at least I had VCU and Butler in my Final Four."
