Team Dragon Racing Fuels Race Report – St. Louis
April 19, 2010 1:48pm
St. Louis – Team Dragon Racing Fuels/1-866-KTM-PART headed into the last round of the Monster Energy Supercross East Coast Lites Series with their eyes wide open and ready to end the series on a high note. With #64 Taylor Futrell out with a broken foot, the team relied on the aggressive rookie, #211 Tevin Tapia.
Tevin laid down solid qualifying times and earned him a great gate pick in Heat 2. With a technical track ahead of him, Tevin lined up with a plan in place to get him into the Main… ride smart and stay out of trouble. As the gate dropped, Tevin grabbed a solid spot with the lead pack and rode an uneventful heat race that landed him a 7th place finish and a ticket into the Main Event.
In the Main Event, Tevin picked a gate on the inside of the Dog House. With a solid Heat race behind him and a lot of confidence, Tevin was ready to get it done. The gate dropped and Tevin grabbed a handful of throttle heading towards the first turn. But as fate would have it, he gave his line away and was pushed into another rider causing them both to go down. As the excitement rolled on up front, Tevin fought his to a 16th place finish. His first Supercross season proved to be a great learning experience for Tevin and he finished 25th overall in the East Coast Lites series. Tevin is now getting ready for the Motocross season.
Injury Update: #64 Taylor Futrell broke his left foot at the Houston race and will be having surgery today to repair the broken bone. It is expected that Taylor will be out for 3 to 4 weeks. Taylor missed two rounds due to his injury and was in contention for an overall top 10 finish in the series. Taylor finished 18th overall and has his eyes set on proving he belongs with the top riders in the series. Taylor is looking forward to his recovery and will be working hard to be ready for the first outdoor national at the Hangtown Motocross Classic on May 22nd.
