Sign Of The Lap Times: Millville
Tuesday, July 19, 2011 | 10:15 AMRound seven of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship from Millville, MN was ignited by spectacular crashes, close finishes, and one of the most resilient, determined rides you may ever witness. Ryan Dungey brought the heat in front of the hometown fans, while Chad Reed brought them to their knees--albeit for a brief moment. Tyla Rattray bounced back to outlast teammate Dean Wilson--who now has six straight runner-up finishes. I would continue my rant but you will read plenty about the racing throughout the week, so let's get to the lap times, brought to you by Motion Pro.

It took all of one practice session for American Honda's Trey Canard to prove he is not only back, but ready to contend. Pleased but not satisfied after practice, Canard, in his first career 450 race, went out and set the fastest lap in moto one with a 2.05.356. Did we mention he finished third overall. Impressive for a guy just back from a broken femur!
In the second moto, Ryan Dungey finally showed the aggression that many skeptics had been waiting for all year. He hunted down Ryan Villopoto and made an aggressive, clean pass to take the moto and overall win--his fourth straight at Millville. But one thing he couldn't take from Villopoto was the fastest lap in moto two. Yep, that belonged to RV2 who put down a blistering 2:02.862 on lap two.
And that spectacular Chad Reed crash? Incredibly, he still logged the fifth-fastest lap time of the moto after picking himself up off the ground. After falling from the sky.

Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki continues to be the thorn in the sides of the rest of the 250 class. Actually it's probably more like a giant piece of wood, but you get the point. Not only did the Pro Circuit squad sweep the podium once again, they also sweep the lap charts, in both motos. I'm not sure what or who is going to be able to stop Pro Circuit, but it is starting to look like a real possibility that they could finish the season with a perfect record.

Jessica Patterson and Ashley Fiolek continue to show their dominance in the WMX class. The two swapped moto wins and fastest lap times at Millville. Will anyone be able to challenge this dominant duo?

Holeshot
Go Deano Go, red plate till the end my friend !! And Reed all the way, hope You had your depends on at Millville !!
First 450 moto EVERYONE but Hahn did there best on lap 2!! Hahn lap 3. Thats odd!!
Man RV was really slow that first moto, well slow for him. He better get it together if he wants this title. I very seriously doubt Reed makes many more big misstakes.
And Ashley and JP are just a giant leap above the other women in that class. They are so fast compared to the others its unreal. 4 to 5 seconds a lap.
Hey look at Malcom stewarts average compared to ashley fiolek and Pattersons. Ashley had faster average lap times than Malcom in both motos. wow.
Canard is faster than Reed. Honda really needs to figure out how to play this because Canard is likely to take points away from Reed a couple more times before this is done. You would think they learned something from the lites fiasco at Vegas.
Windham too......
Some PC stats for you this season:
Through 7 events there has been 21 podium positions
1. PC has owned 17 of the 21 podium positions (81%)
2. PC has swept the podium 3 of the 7 events (43%)
3. PC has won every overall (100%)
4. PC has taken the second in every event (100%)
The only 4 times that PC has not had all the podium positions (only 4 times that have not swept the podium!
Round 2 - Kyle C. - 3rd
Round 4 - Eli T. - 3rd
Round 4 - Justin B. - 3rd
Round 5 - Eli T. - 3rd
Dang!!! That is domination
I sure would have like to have seen what Kyle Regal's lap times were Sunday at Millville.. He was haulin' the mail on that Suz 450.
Those stats tell me RV was more effected by the conditions than his two championship rivals. Great fastest lap in moto 2, but faded to finish second a long way behind in 2nd. His fall really didn´t affect the result all that much IMO.
He will be much stronger this week on the hard pack and I expect him to battle it out with RD, with a detuned CR fighting for the final podium with TC.
Marvelous Marvin Musquin will walk away from the lites field.
@ Loopy989, Ashley finished both motos, Stewart crashed hard and got his left leg pinned under the bike at the corner in between the two long whoop sections.
IF you pay attention maybe you'll catch the little details that explain something before you show your idiodocy, but alas, I doubt it.
@Open Class, Yeah they have been dominant. I wonder where Kawasaki is in wins in the 250f class since 2004 when they brought the bike out, Its, gotta be pretty lopsided.
Motocross, regardless of several bikes having the same graphics, similar sponsors, or pitting under the same tent, is NOT a team sport! In no way should TC41 slow down or allow CR22 to receive points he doesn't EARN. And I don't think Reed would want it that way because then everyone would say he wouldn't have won if Canard wouldn't have helped him. Besides that, other than both having backing from Factory Honda they aren't even on the same team! I'm glad to see the 41 mixing it up with the top 3 where he belonged all year.
This has been one of the most amazing seasons of motocross I've ever seen and I hope that it doesn't become scarred by the "politics" of riders teaming up.
The 2 fastest girls are faster than baby Stewie, thats great. And some clowns think Malcolm deserves a factory ride?? NO WAY. Not if he cant beat a few girls. And of course Jairtimesuks will defend any Stewie no matter what, and say he crashed, but so did JP, so dislocated her shoulder and stillran faster laps than him, hows you excuse now jairtimesuks?? Maybe you should do some research, she was faster with a dislocated shoulder, he is OVERRATED....
Reed needs to be like Bob Hannah, "I dont need any stinkin' help".
@Mike, dream on, Musquin is a good rider, but he wasnt winning anything before he hurt his wussy, much less if he's not in shape. You are just cheering for anyone who isnt American, we know your bigoted kind.
So true Jason
Really? You're a bigot if you cheer for someone other than an american? Better look up the definition of bigot. Mike may be dreaming but he's not a bigot.
IF Alex Martin had a PC bike, he would have won Millville
Hard to say what was eating RV at Millville, he just didnt look too be himself to me. ....He didnt gel very well all day, but luckily he still made up points with Reed having a bad moto ...RV got stuck in 5th/6th for a long time in moto 1 and usually he blasts past guys early in the race...by the time he got Alessi, Reed and Dungey were gone.......I guess going 3-2 isnt too bad....hopefully Washougal is his day....
I dont think any of the top 3 guys like the team tactic approach and I dont think Windham or Canard would want to purposely hold someone back or let someone by....this isnt NASCAR......thank god!!!
@Mike is a bigot
What are you talking about? You conveniently overlook the fact I think CR will be beaten this weekend, yes that´s right, by two Americans. How is that bigoted?
Dude, MM is a class better than the current babies playing in the lites class, and while Ratters is no baby, he was never in Mavelous Marvin´s class. He might have been a world champion, but he won his title in probably the weakest year ever. Wait and see. He´s that good that I don´t think he´ll even need a warm up race, although I could be wrong on that one.
@trend Killer, I agree RV did not look as good, The whoops he looked realy slow. But the first moto was VERY hard to pass for anyone, The track was 1 line and outside that line is was muck.
It showed in Moto two that RV was two seconds a lap slower on average than Dungey, had Dungey holeshoted knowone would have ever seen him.
Kasie Creson tearing it up for the Nor-Cal fans. Go Kasie!
TC41 is awakening from his great slumber,,,,, those others better geat ready for the TC freight train once he get his fitness back up...
Go Trey...!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bill C - Indeed...I didnt want to make any excuses on RV's behalf....I had thought Reed or Dungey had commented on the one line issue as well...maybe it was RV....but you could tell it was a problem in moto 1 when he was stuck behind the road block ala Metacalf......
RV's moto 2 lap average really dropped the last few laps when he backed way off once he fell and before Dungey passed him I think he had a 4 second drop between two laps when Dungey cruised up on his tale...heck, if he was getting tired and backed off, good for him....better than push and go down....WASHOUGAL will hopefully be a shining day for RV!
HOLY SHIZZLE, reed crashes the first lap, then on his second lap sets the 5th fastest time and his for the second mot. Wow thats amazing even with a bent bike and all.
Mitch... U need to sign Darryn durham for 2012 !!! kids got way too much heart. Huge shoutout to chad reed. I always said he was a soldier, so pumped he rode the race out
Blb - Dungye rode great, but your comment does not make too much sense considering Dungey was on RV and Reeds rear wheel the first lap.....Once Reed rode over his head and crashed on the first lap, Dungey was right there and RV immediatley pulled away and had a nice cushion 3/4 of the race ...RD just rode the same pace and maybe picked it up a little once RV showed signs of fading....In the end, it worked out for Dungey cause RV slowed down, got tired or whatever.......but at one point Dungey was 10 seconds behind...so not sure if he holeshot he would have disappeared...RV's soil sample and the fact he rolled around the track the last 3 laps killed his avg lap times....they a minute lead on Canard before RV went down....so he cruised the rest of the race.....
Shougal PREDICTION:
RV2 1-1
RD1 (5) 2-2
CR22 4-3
TC41 3-4
RV gets Red Plate Points leader by 6
RD gets within 1 of Reed for second
TC41 steals a couple points from Reed as Reed is shaking out the cobwebs/Jetlag from last weeks flight!
What a championship on the heels of a supercross season for the ages!
@BLB, The first 6 laps RV killed it, In fact RV's first 6 laps were all faster then RD best lap. They both slowed down on lap 7 till the finish but RV slowed down more. On lap 7 and 8 RD picked up 1/2 sec, on lap 9 3sec, lap 102 sec, lap 11 1/2 sec and lap 12 1 sec then the pass. i think RV ware himself out in the first 6 laps. He looked like he was fighting the bike all day IMO.
u can see it all here.

@ Rick Melon .. You think Reed was riding over his head ?? Hmmm,, I would have to disagree with that..
@Rick Melon
Your an idiot.
@ mike the idiot, 2008 was the weakest MX2 season ever? with TONY CAIROLI, Rattray, and Searle at their prime? musquin won his first championship in 2009 against who? musquin did nothing in AMA (0 lap, 0 point) and until he won something, SHUT-UP!
@ mike the idiot, for now, musquin IS A BIG ZERO in ama and pourcel IS A BIG ZERO on 450, do you understand the reality? MORON
Reed put his best lap at Lap 2 in Moto 2. After that high flying acrobatic move.
Pretty impressive indeed!!!
RV needs to work on his fitness or something!! He should be running that 2:02 the whole race! Obviously he fell off the pace! Dungey was a full second slower than him in the 2nd moto he just was able to run it the whole moto
