In the early eighties, a group of Illinois-based moto buddies got into the clothing business with a company they called Life’s a Beach. From its modest success grew a much bigger company—No Fear—which became an iconic action-sports brand in the nineties. And from that spun off No Fear MX Gear, which quickly became the preferred brand of Jeremy McGrath, Travis Pastrana, Sebastien Tortelli, and more. In 1999, the gear brand rose almost as fast as the parent company, only to disappear just as quickly. This is the story of how and why No Fear MX came about, then went away, as told by its owners and athletes.
