If you saw the big pileup in the second 250 moto at Washougal, you no doubt witnessed how slow Yamalube/Star Racing Yamaha's Jeremy Martin was to get up after going down hard and getting run over in the incident. He eventually did get up and came back to finish the moto seventeenth.
After the race we tried to confirm rumors of broken ribs, but there wasn't enough information to back up the rumors, although we were able to confirm a rib injury of some sort.
We were able to uncover more early this week though, and it turns out Martin did indeed suffer a pair of broken ribs in the crash.
As far as when he'll return to racing, he still isn't sure. Martin's people are using the current break to evaluate his condition, safety, and comfort level. He may miss the rest of the season, and he may not miss any races. It's too early to tell at this time.
The two-time defending 250MX champion is currently second in points, fifty-one back of teammate Cooper Webb with three rounds remaining in the championship.
Lucas Oil Pro Motocross is currently on a two-week break. Round 10 of the championship will take place at Unadilla on August 13.
