James Stewart has released information on his ankle injury and there is good news and bad news. The good news: James didn’t break anything and is expected to be ready for the Monster Energy Supercross season opener in Anaheim on January 9.
The bad news (especially for fans in Australia): He will miss this weekend’s AUS-X Open taking place in Sydney. James said after all the tests, there is some “pretty good damage [to the ankle]," which will force him to miss this weekend.
Below is James’ statement he released on his Instagram account today:
“Hey guys, just want to keep you all in the loop. As you probably all know, I went down in Paris and hurt my ankle a week or so ago. Nothing is broken but there’s some pretty good damage and after all the tests the doctor tells me I have a lot of work & rehab to go through in order to make the gate at A1. Needless to say, I’m pretty devastated . . . it seems my only luck has been bad luck lately. I’m bummed because the last thing I want to do is let down the fans, especially you all in Australia. Again I'm truly sorry and wish I had better news for all of us. I really appreciate all of your support."
As we reported earlier today, Cooper Webb and Ricky Carmichael will fly to Australia this week to race the event. Carmichael will take on Chad Reed in a head-to-head race.
