Pit Beirer, Head of KTM Motorsport, confirmed today that Jeffrey Herlings will race the final MXGP round in Leon, Mexico, this weekend. Herlings suffered a clean fracture of the femur in July on an 85cc at the Everts and Friends Charity Race. Herlings has missed the last three GPs.
In a statement, Beirer said: “We’re cautiously pleased that Jeffrey’s doctors have cleared him to race in Mexico, even though it will be difficult for him after some weeks of healing the fracture. Of course he lacks race practice and doesn’t have the same level of fitness he had before his accident, but we feel he deserves to have a fighting chance to wrap up the title.”
The two-time MX2 Champion tweeted yesterday:
Pain is temporary, Glory is for ever.

Herlings currently leads Red Bull KTM teammate Jordi Tixier by 23 points heading into the weekend.
