TLD Oakland Report
All three team riders were in the opening heat of the night and they rounded turn one in first, second and third. As great as it would have been to just call it a night right then and there, the boys still had some racing to do. Cole Seely slid out and gave the lead to Christian Craig. Craig then crashed in the sand and handed the lead to Jessy Nelson. Nelson twisted the throttle and motored away for his first heat race win. Cole and Christian regrouped and qualified in fourth and sixth respectively.
The main event almost started with another holeshot but Nelson drifted wide and handed the lead to Ken Roczen. Still, the Troy Lee Designs riders sat in 3rd, 4th and 5th exiting turn one. Seely wasted no time going to the front and opening up a gap on the field. It looked like Cole might earn his fourth career win but around the tenth lap Roczen put on a charge. Cole would fall into a comfortable second, his best finish of the year. Christian made a couple bobbles and ended the night in 9th and Nelson took an off-track excursion and crossed the line in 13th.
The team will head back to southern California for stops in Anaheim and San Diego before a long break in the series. If you haven't seen the team in action be sure to come out to the races and meet the riders!
