While running inside the top ten in the first moto at Unadilla on Saturday, Langston-Witt KTM’s Les Smith planted his foot in a corner and heard a pop. Smith would ride two more laps before the pain became unbearable and had to pull out of the moto.
I spoke with Smith earlier today via text message and he confirmed that he has broken his fibula and will be getting a plate and screw inserted on Wednesday. Initial reports are that Smith will miss six weeks—effectively ending the rest of his 2012 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross campaign.
