Malcolm Stewart, Blake Baggett, Ryan Sipes on DMXS Tonight
March 24, 2010, 3:58pm
Malcolm Stewart used to take his fishing pole to the amateur nationals and take home some dinner, now he takes his Yamaha YZ450F and takes home some titles. The younger brother of James Stewart is taking up the family business and made a statement at Oak Hill last week with a 450A Mod and 450 Pro title among the sport’s top amateur riders. And, it's not just his speed on an outdoor track that is garnering attention from the industry. If you happen to see the footage from Vurb’s EPIC of Malcolm on a SX track, then you know this kid has a wicked and aggressive style all his own. We will find out his plans for the rest of 2010 and if we will see him on a gate for the outdoors which a little birdie told me may happen.
Bobby Hewitt is one of the patriarchs of amateur motocross racing and has parlayed that knowledge into the pro ranks with a successful Rockstar Energy Suzuki team in both classes. After making the switch away from his longtime affiliation with Kawasaki this year, Bobby and his team picked right up where they left off and scored their first ever SX victory last weekend at, “Our sport’s Taj Mahal” (Guy B quote) in Dallas. Lites rider Blake Baggett took full advantage of the first turn pileup and put in a consistent well-fought battle to add another rookie win for the season. We will catch up with Blake tonight for a full recap of the weekend and how his season has gone so far. Congrats to Bobby and his entire team for the win!
Moto Concepts Yamaha’s Ryan Sipes needs to tape a blue flag to the end of a 10ft pole and secure it to his handle bars some how, or a party favor blowy thingy that will unwind with a lapper flag at the end of it. The Kentucky Kid has been bit by lappers twice this season, but took second place in stride after a crash earlier in the day had him feeling less then spunky for the night show. He’s always a fun guest and this will be the first time back on the show after we crank called him about a ride with the new Greyhound SX team where he would pit out of a bus and actually ride to each race with his fans. We’ll give him a chance for redemption tonight.
