Morgantown, W.Va. -- Ricky Carmichael University is proud to announce the addition of Jeff Emig, like RC a past AMA Supercross Champion as well as Daytona Supercross winner, to the faculty for March 8th classes. Emig will work alongside Carmichael in teaching the 100 riders enrolled in this new academy, with classes being held at Daytona International Speedway. Ricky Carmichael University is a new program organized by Carmichael, MX Sports, and Daytona International Speedway as a unique opportunity for future supercross champions, as well as past prospects who still enjoy riding and bench-racing, to enjoy learning trade secrets from two of the best and most popular athletes our sport has ever known.
"I am super-pumped to have Jeff join our faculty and look forward to working with him on a fun, insightful lesson plan that our students are going to love," said Carmichael, the five-time AMA Supercross Champion and five-time Daytona Supercross winner. "I've known 'Fro' ever since I was riding 80s and he's always been a great help. In fact, I walked around Loretta Lynn's track with him once-along with maybe two hundred other kids!-when he was doing a track walk and I can still remember some of the tips he told us. He's always been champion and a great guy, and I am proud to have him joining our staff for our program."
"Ricky wants me there even though I know he's still mad about the fact that I beat him the last time we raced together!" joked Emig, referring to the 1999 U.S. Open of Supercross, his last win as a professional. "Seriously, I look forward to not only working alongside Ricky in this new program, but also with all riders young and old who will be spending the day with us at such a prestigious racing facility as Daytona International Speedway."
Emig is now a color analyst for the SPEED and CBS coverage of Monster Energy AMA Supercross, as well as a team manager for Fox Racing.
Jeff Emig is the first of several guest instructors and lecturers that will form the faculty for the first Ricky Carmichael University classes at Daytona International Speedway.
