CBS Sports, which is home to Amp’d Mobile Supercross, will showcase the Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open as the lead into the network’s coverage of the South Eastern Conference college football game of the week.
“We are pleased to bring all the thrills and excitement of supercross to our viewers,” said Rob Correa, senior vice president, programming, CBS Sports. “And look forward in continuing to grow the fan base as we broadcast the best the sport has to offer, in the Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open.”
During the 2006-’07 Amp’d Mobile Supercross season, CBS Sports garnered an average Nielsen Ratings of 1.0, and this year’s Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open is expected to draw impressive ratings as well. The ninth-annual Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open will preview the CBS Sports Amp’d Mobile Supercross Christmas Show that kicks off the 2006-’07 season.
“The evolution of the U.S. Open has been amazing over the years, with the greatest racers, a great city, new sponsors, new elements of racing, and the network television coverage on CBS Sports ties it all together,” said Ken Hudgens, vice president of marketing and television, U.S. Open. “With the addition of title sponsor Rockstar Energy Drink and the Toyota Truck Trifecta, we are excited to deliver this package to fans across the country.”
Built into this year's US Open format will be the three part Toyota Trucks Trifecta bonus program that will pay additional money to the fastest qualifier for each night's event, a bonus to each night's holeshot winner and a bonus for any rider that can complete the Toyota Trucks Trifecta challenge by being the fastest qualifier, getting the holeshot and winning the main event. Any rider that hits the Toyota Trucks Trifecta will earn a $50,000 bonus each night in addition to the regular event purse and any rider that can "Double Down" and hit the Toyota Trucks Trifecta both nights will walk away with $250,000 for the weekend.
