Reason For Being

When Lucas and Sacha Coenen flew from Europe to the U.S. in the middle of the season to make a cameo appearance in AMA Pro Motocross, it was the latest case of top riders showing up on the other side of the world to test the waters in one-off races (and it may turn out to be three-off if they stick to their plans to return for Southwick and Ironman). Over the years, I’ve been lucky enough to cover a few of these motocross journeys firsthand, and I’m always impressed by the confidence and talent of the riders who take on such an adventure.
