Reason For Being

Ever get an unexpected phone call, answer it, and then wish you’d never picked the phone up in the first place? That’s me, right now, as I type this column moments before our editorial deadline passes. It’s 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 3, just a few hours before Independence Day and 36 hours before I start the drive to RedBud, and I just got a call from the Lawrence camp that Jett Lawrence suffered a thumb injury while riding yesterday and is now on a plane to Vail, Colorado, to get it operated on.
