Ten Years ago, five up-and-coming minicycle riders from the relatively small town of Bakersfield, California, were gaining national attention. Despite not being known for producing motocross talent, Bakersfield’s lineup of prospects—Jett Reynolds, Brock Bennett, Stilez Robertson, Tyler Blankenship, and Ryder DiFrancesco—looked like it might be the sport’s next “El Cajon Zone,” recalling the San Diego suburb that was home to Broc Glover, Rick Johnson, Ron Lechien, Scott Burnworth, and more.
With a healthy pack of fast young talent in the pipeline, Bakersfield, California, was once poised to take over the motocross world. Ten years further on, things haven’t quite panned out that way.
