Walk-OffS
If you thought Chase Sexton’s ghost ride of his Red Bull KTM after he clinched the 2024 AMA 450 Pro Motocross Championship at the Ironman National looked familiar, it’s probably because last year’s champion, Honda HRC’s Jett Lawrence, did the exact same thing after he completed his perfect season there. The two ghost rides, combined with the one that Haiden Deegan did after he won the SMX title at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, led some other lesser-known riders who have been disciplined for similar incidents—namely GNCCer Steward Baylor and KTM Jr. SX kid Gavin McCoy—to express frustration that neither Chase nor Jett were fined or penalized like they were. It’s probably worth noting that both Lawrence and Sexton were well past the finish line and not on a hot racetrack. Lawrence’s title was Honda’s first 450 MX title since 2004; Sexton’s was KTM’s first since 2015.
