People love the free-agent signing period in every stick-and-ball sport, when athletes take the opportunity to switch teams and hope suddenly springs eternal—like it has for the New York Jets now that they’ve picked up the Green Bay Packers’ Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Our own little sport has the same type of “silly season” going on, though it’s not quite as public. Rather, it’s way underground. All season long agents are working behind the scenes, trying to get the best deal for their clients for the following season. And in some cases, just about any deal will do—it’s definitely a buyer’s market for most out there right now in SX/MX.
