In Seattle, the nickname “Beast Mode” belongs to beloved Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch, a workhorse of an NFL player who always rose to the occasion for the Seahawks. Mentioning going “beast mode” to an SMX fan will likely bring to mind Eli Tomac, the multi-time champion who picked up the same term for similar reasons. In the second week of February 2026, those two legends came into focus simultaneously due to a quirk of the calendar. Just days after the retired Lynch’s Seahawks won the Super Bowl, Tomac was leading the 2026 Monster Energy Supercross Championship into town for their annual Seattle stop. This created a scheduling conundrum: The Seahawks would celebrate their Super Bowl win inside Lumen Field on the Wednesday morning before Saturday’s race. Typically, by that point in a race week, the Feld Motor Sports production team and the Dirt Wurx track-building crew have the stadium floor covered with plywood and dirt. Complicating matters, weather forecasters were predicting rain all day on Friday, the day before the race. This double whammy left a tight window of just 30 hours for a full supercross track to be built from scratch and covered in plastic. What usually takes the better part of a week had to be done in less than a day and a half. Mission impossible? Maybe. It was time for someone other than Marshawn and Eli to go beast mode in Seattle.
