I think that it would be a good idea to have the SMX Next SX rounds broken down like this:
Round 1: ClubMX. Round 2: Millsaps Training Facility. Round 3: Arizona Cycle Park. Round 4: Oak Hill Training Facility. Then have a final SMX Next race of the year (Thunder Ridge Nature Arena in Missouri on the hybrid track).
My thoughts behind this: the training facilities have the capabilities to build the tracks needed for these guys to race at the level they are prepared for now, eliminating the current track condition issues and concerns. Each of these facilities has the track, locations, plenty of facility parking, marketing, and more. This will bring revenue, exposure, and more to the facilities. More importantly, it gets the SMX Next racers to a level above their current level without the tremendous pressure of being in front of 50,000 fans under the lights, dealing with the track conditions, and more.

(Thanks, Duke, it’s an interesting idea for sure. These facilities are already doing a great deal to help competitors make that last big step. However, the challenge of having SMX Next events there would be the expense of televising/streaming the events, as well as the fact that the professional teams would likely not be on hand to observe the events, as they would be racing at the existing events at the same time. I do think some coordinated boot camps, where all of the top kids get together for a weekend of riding, training, and instruction, would certainly help—and make a reality show out of the whole deal!
