Monster Energy Supercross has a tradition of holding a Military Appreciation round of the series in which they honor the men and women who serve our country. Since 2014, they have invited military members and their families to attend the race with free tickets and discounts, putting them in the spotlight along with the athletes themselves. Riders and race teams are encouraged to create military-themed looks for their bikes and riding gear, whether you’re on a factory team or a privateer. That in turn leads to friendly competition among graphics’ designers and gear companies to come up with the best looks. It all makes for a fun and unique event for both the participants as well as the men and women that are being honored for their service. Some riders and teams are held back by pre-existing sponsor commitment, but there’s always room for workarounds.
