If you’re a supercross and motocross fan these are pretty exciting times in our industry right now. The promoters of Monster Energy Supercross (Feld Motor Sports) and AMA Pro Motocross (MX Sports Pro Racing, the sister company to this magazine you’re holding) are really working together for the first time ever. There’s a new SuperMotocross World Championship with more money than ever in the sport for the racers, the best TV package we’ve ever seen, and on top of that, we have two motorcycle brands that are best known for their prowess on the street coming into the dirt. The “big four” Japanese OEMs turned into the big five (and then seven) with KTM Group’s emergence and expansion, and now we’ve got the Brits and Italians coming in, too. After decades of basically four manufacturers, we’ve now reached nine when you include the off-road-based Italian company Beta making a quiet push into SX/MX with a new specialized 450, and within a couple years the Italy-based, Audi-owned Ducati brand will make it ten.
