Reason For Being
Rob Andrews was a British racer on the FIM 500cc World Championship circuit in the 1980s. That was a golden era for Grand Prix motocross, and Rob has just came out with an amazing new book entitled The Inside Line: Racing the 500cc World Motocross Championship (available now from robandrewsmx.com). He was kind enough to let us publish a portion of one chapter in this issue, about the most famous motocross circuit of all, Namur in Belgium, beginning on page 100.
Unfortunately, we didn’t have room to run Rob’s sidebar recollection about what was arguably the greatest moment in Namur’s history, when Swedish great Hakan Carlqvist stopped while leading on the last lap and drank a beer with the spectators! So we decided to bring you “Carla’s Beer Stop,” for no known photos exist, right here.
