For a time, Tom Benolkin was one of the top prospects in the sport. Raised in Minnesota in a racing family, he was a regular on the Florida Winter-AMA circuit. After a strong showing there in the ’79 series against Team Yamaha’s Broc Glover, the multi-time 125 National Motocross Champion, Team Honda signed him to a support deal for the 1980 season.
