Reason For Being
The 2024 Monster Energy Supercross Championship was a pivotal one before it even started for our sport. This tour marks the 50-year celebration of the series, which was cobbled together in 1974 by putting together two “stadium motocross” races—Daytona and Houston—and counting it as a new AMA championship. (The Superbowl of Motocross in the Los Angeles Coliseum would later be retroactively added in the records books.) From that modest start this series has grown by leaps and bounds over the years, in both prestige and production, to the point where it’s easily the most important series in the dirt bike world. And with 2024 marking a half-century of the existence of this championship, series organizer Feld Motor Sports was hoping for a banner year to help propel SX into its next half century.
