The Making of Hammaker
Somehow, Seth Hammaker won a race in just his third professional start, at the Arlington Supercross. Not only did the 20-year-old Pennsylvanian miss two seasons with injuries and illness, which delayed his pro debut, but he resembled more of the humble, gritty grinder than the instant flash of an immediate winner. Hammaker spent his winters hibernating in Pennsylvania, and most years Loretta Lynn’s served as his only major race. He went 2-1 in his first two Stock Oil Injected 51cc motos in 2007, but a 13th in moto three cost him the title. After his breakthrough win in Arlington, Hammaker sent us this photo of him being interviewed by our own Jason Weigandt after that 2007 moto win at Loretta’s. He’s been preparing a victory speech for a very long time.
