CANADIAN 500cc GRAND PRIX OF MOTOCROSS
Every motocross fan in America (of a certain age) knows that Gerrit Wolsink was the undisputed King of Carlsbad, winning the U.S. 500cc Grand Prix of Motocross in Southern California a remarkable five times in six years between 1974 and ’79. Wolsink’s dominance there was something of an outlier; he was from the soft sands of Holland, and Carlsbad was a hard-packed, blue-groove freeway.
