Getting involved in the motocross industry, first as a mechanic and then as a media guy almost 30 years ago has taken me to more places than I ever imagined. I grew up reading the pages of Cycle News, Motocross Action, Super Moto Cross, and every other magazine you can imagine. Still, the thought of me, some kid in Canada, attending the Paris-Bercy Supercross or jetting down to Australia to check out a couple of supercrosses was unfathomable. But there I was, over three weekends in November, in both France and down under, doing exactly that: attending supercross races and just living the dream. The fact that it would take a mind-numbing 61 hours of flight time to get to these races was something I had not really pondered, but that’s part of the bargain if you want to see supercross racing all over the world.
