ELECTRIC JAPAN
Six years after he retired from professional racing, Team Honda advisor and test rider Trey Canard (41) was tapped for the race debut of the Honda Electric CR Proto at the All-Japan Pro Motocross in October. Racing against 450cc four-stroke motorcycles Canard finished second in the first of three motos, then holeshot the next two, only to go down in both while leading, though he got some “help” in the middle moto (inset) from Yamaha factory rider Jay Wilson. “Each time I was on the track, we improved the motorcycle, and the CR Electric Proto team adapted to the challenge,” said Canard afterwards. “I’m disappointed not to finish all of the motos after all of the hard work the team has put in, but I think we showed that the potential of the bike is quite high, especially for our very first attempt at racing.”
