There are good ones and great ones in every sport. In our sport, for a decade now, Eli Tomac has been one of the very good ones, winning dozens of races and multiple titles. But he was never really considered one of the greats, because there was always one thing missing on the mantel of his home in Cortez, Colorado: a Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship. It certainly wasn’t for a lack of trying, as Tomac and his parents, John and Cathy, have worked for it since Eli was a little kid on a Cobra. Finally, this year, at the age of 27 and a parent himself, Eli Tomac won that long-elusive title. Now we can all say without hesitation that Tomac, with his success both indoors and out, is one of our sport’s true greats. He’s also our 2020 Racer X Rider of the Year.
