A t the Washougal National, Colt Nichols borrowed Alex Ray’s van and Donn Meada’s Swapmoto Live Kawasaki KX450SR and went 10-10 on the day. He didn’t have a motocross deal, but he had heard enough about the big money on the line in the new SuperMotocross World Championship to know he needed to get in. Those few extra points he scored that day provided the insurance he needed. Other riders were doing the same, like Shane McElrath and Josh Hill. These guys spent their own money, found their own bikes and trucks and bet on themselves to make that money back. This was the first sign the SMX thing might make an impact.
