Team Honda HRC’s Chase Sexton gets the go-ahead from his riding coach, James Stewart, at the RedBud 2 National. Sexton has been riding under the tutelage of Stewart, a multi-time SX/MX champion, since the coronavirus shutdown back in the spring, using the Stewart Compound as their classroom. (It’s also sometimes shared by Sexton’s fellow 450 rookie Adam Cianciarulo.) Stewart’s surprise appearance at RedBud in Michigan—a track where he won several times during his own career—was thought to be his first at an outdoor national since his last race, the 2016 Washougal National.
