Do you remember when Ricky Carmichael showed up in 2005 with those funky Chinese-made Berik boots? Carmichael had switched to Suzuki and was about to reclaim the AMA Supercross Championship he had forfeited in 2004 due to a knee injury. He would also be adding a ninth straight AMA Pro Motocross title later that summer. All of which made his decision to leave industry-leader Alpinestars for a brand-new motocross boot company so perplexing. Turns out he had a lot of reasons. As in, low six-figures reasons.
