For a pair of multi-time Monster Energy AMA Supercross Champions whose careers mostly ran at the same time, there aren’t a lot of epic Ryan Villopoto-vs.-Ryan Dungey duels. Each was such a consistently good and smart competitor on the track that they rarely pushed the envelope past the comfort level just to get a race win over on the other. Villopoto and Dungey both played the long game, especially during their 450SX careers. Villopoto’s edge was his pure speed compared to Dungey’s, who in turn held the upper hand when it came to patience.
