Team Trick Tank Heading North
BLACKSBURG, S.C. -- Team Trick Tank riders Jake Gilbertson, Justin Hopson and Tate Barr are on their way to the Wachovia Arena in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. for the final round of this weekend's AMA Arenacross Eastern region championships
This event, the last of the points paying races for the AMA Eastern region, will determine which riders will be invited to compete at the prestigious U.S. Open of Arenacross at the MGM Grand Arena October 9-11.
Gilbertson, son of team owner Bob Gilbertson, has already locked up an invite in two classes, 85cc and Super Mini in the East and depending on his results next weekend at the Midwest finals in Cincinnati he could also lock up the Midwest titles in both classes.
Hopson, who turned Pro this year, will compete in three races, AX Lites on Friday and Saturday and in the Expert class on Sunday. He needs a good finish in the Expert class to go to Vegas and he's a man on a mission.
Barr also has the same scenario facing him. He's entered in three classes, AX Lites, AX Intermediate and CollegeBoy and he's looking to ride his way to a Vegas invitation by scoring big in Wilkes-Barre.
Other riders joining the Track Tank Team this weekend are Jim "Wrecker" Chester and Cody Robbins.
Chester competes in three of the Senior classes, Over 25, Over 30 and Over 35 and he usually dominates as evidenced by the results from the last Arenacross in Greensboro, N.C. where he won every race he entered.
Robbins is an up and coming rider who will be racing in two classes both Friday and Saturday nights, Pro 250 and Pro 450, two of the most competitive classes in the sport and is also looking forward to doing well at the Eastern finals.
