Spinechillers Racing Greensboro Race Report
The Greensboro North Carolina Coliseum boasts a 23,000 seat capacity and the largest arena in the state hosted Round 5 of the AMA Arenacross series. Racing action was fast and the show never stopped.
Team Spinechillers Racing was eager to put the previous weekend behind them and return to podium finishes. With the team’s Lites rider and current points leader Willy Browning sidelined from an injury in the previous round, Nathan Skaggs and Zach Ames could not wait for the gate to drop and the racing action to get started.
Many Spinechillers’ fans blogged in to the Live Update on Arenacross.com to wish the team and riders well in this week’s competition. Both Nathan and Zach finished fourth in their respective Heat races positioning them well for the main event.
With 25% of the on-line followers picking Nathan to win the night’s race, Nathan didn’t disappoint and pulled one of his patented hole-shots. Skaggs commented in a post race interview “Last week I kind-of got taken out so this week I was prepared for it and didn’t go down”. Nathan led the first half of the race with Zach Ames in 5’Th position.
Nathan continued to focus forward and ended the night returning to the podium with a second place finish. Zach’s efforts held on to 6’Th position and a solid finish for the night.
Team Manager Dallas Avery noted, “We’re happy with how we turned things around tonight”. “We miss having Willy [Browning] with us and wanted to put the team up front with hopes that he can return to racing soon”.
Nathan Skaggs continues to hold on to the second place position in the championship points chase heading into the second half of the series.
Arenacross moves to the Tulsa Oklahoma’s, BOK Center for the next round of racing to be held on February 7’th. Tickets are available online at www.arenacross.com, www.ticketmaster.com, www.tickets.com. For more information on the AMA Arenacross Series log on to www.arenacross.com.
