Whats the deal with the NBCSN times changing from the original schedule? Last week it go bumped to 12:30, then pushed back more due to a bicycle race and I didnt get to see the end of the second moto because my dvr stopped at the scheduled time. Now getting bumped up to 11pm this week. Don't get me wrong, 11pm is better than midnight, but I have the whole schedule in my mobile calendar going off the original schedule, and this is screwing me all up now haha.

WTF?? The second motos on at 10pm (central time zone for me) on a Saturday night?? Way to go backyards!! Good luck getting people to watch it during that time frame. Last year's coverage was way better!!!

I was one to say that switching from SPEED to NBC Sports wasn't a big deal, but when this new incarnation of Versus can't run the programming at the scheduled times, that's BS. Hangtown moto twos were, as vargus21 stated, a half hour late due to a re-run of that day's Tour of California. A re-run! I was glad to have stayed up for the beginning, so I was able to adjust the DVR, but come on. Then I tried to record the highlight show, and that ran 15 minutes late because of the apparent need to run baseball commentary into the scheduled moto time, so I didn't get the last 15 minutes of that show. Davey, I've stuck up for you on this, but so far NBC Sports is a step backwards.

All due respect to those in control of broadcasting this internet/television production.
RacerX has been great about presenting, dissecting, analyzing, de-constructing everything Moto issues to the ninth degree.
It is my personal opinion, that RacerX may consider opening up a constructive dialog on this site for purposes as to why everyone is so up in arms about the coverage of the broadcasting discrepancies.
Hey, I am all about supporting and promoting this sport to the moon and beyond.
So, a little viewer feedback as to how (we) can promote this sport through multi-media formats that can enhance the (audience) demographic out here in the not/so free world.
There is too much drumming going on in the jungle, and the natives are getting restless, while there is still time, in the early stages of this series.
I would think those in control, may also agree.
Who am I but, just another fan, one of a collective of millions equals $$$,$$$,$$$.
Just a thought...

Give credit where credit is due. The coverage is much better than ten years ago. I still believe Davey Coombs has this sports best interest at heart. That being said, NBC is a giant step backwards. If it is true that this is a larger money deal than Speed or Fuel, who is the money benefitting. As a fan, the new NBC is unacceptable. Davey, at least acknowledge us as to why this is happening with NBC?

Profile Picture
GraciousOne wrote: 9:42pm May 25, 2012

@WStewart34:

Why is this happening with NBC Sports? Because to them this is just another "extreme sport", no different than bungee jumping. It's treated as a sideshow, rather than being treating as one of the main atractions - as it is on Speed. Speed treats all motorsports with the respect they deserve. Yes, they have too much NASCAR for my liking but SX and MX are always treated with the utmost respect. Their SX coverage has improved year after year with more and more live events.

CBS, on the other hand, often didn't even broadcast their SX shows (at all) in my region.

And I am not shelling out $$$ for a network (NBC Sports) that carries only one show I would be interested in watching. At least with CBS there was SOME chance of me catching an SX race. Thanks to this terrible TV deal, I won't get to see any 2nd motos throughout the season.

Those who are responsible should re-think their poor decision, and fix this mess for next year.

PS I emphasize a constructive dialog, Davy, not a lynch mob. I just believe some fine tuning here could make this (bike) perform so much better when it counts, during the race, when it counts!

I am sorry NBC...I have to get up at 4am and get ready to go to work at 5am,so I wont be watching and believe me I am not the only one.I will read the 2nd moto results when there published, right after the race as always. 11pm is the best you all can do, well right back at you "the best I can do is read about it".

For the life of me, I can't understand why MX Sports doesn't save their money and drop the US tv coverage and just let people pay to watch it on the internet like they do on the MX GPs.It really pisses me of that the rest of the world can watch the second motos before we can.I mean this is our national series yet we might get to see it several hours after the rest of the world gets to see it.If the inter works as well as it did last week on Allisport net. then I would mind paying to watch it live every week.MX Sports is just wasting money on their stupid TV package. If I was them I would be sueing NBC sports.

Profile Picture
michaelj209 wrote: 8:29am May 26, 2012

Well, looks like yet another summer of not getting to watch the nationals. Fuel (also known as the "flat-brimmed, sideways hat network") and NBC sports both have to be purchased as part of an additional channel package for pretty much all television providors. I don't know why they can't use Speedvision or ESPN which are both part of most people's basic package. Total B.S. Guess I'll just avoid the internet for the next few days until the race makes it to YouTube. Thanks again fellas for screwing the fans over a few dollars.

They should follow what's being done with professional surfing. Each event is aired live via podcast and each podcast has a sponsor. The sponser gets the whole event to themselves and it's one long commercial for them. This would be better for everyone. Think about that, surfing is easier to view than motocross.

bucky394 wrote: 8:41am May 26, 2012

Fred-when you're right, you're right. It is sad that "the rest of the world" gets to see our series before we do. Thankfully, I record it, so I can watch it all at once and be able to FAST FOWARD thru the 6 minute commercials. This is my favorite way to watch, but it is tuff to walk past the TV knowing it is on and I can't watch it!!!

Profile Picture
bucky394 wrote: 8:42am May 26, 2012

And, it is not uncommon at all for me to wake up in the wee hours of the night and watch it!!

Profile Picture
wwoberg wrote: 9:51am May 26, 2012

Not to be picky, but EST is actually eastern standard time. We are currently on Daylight time, so what I actually think you are trying to give times for is EDT. Not EST. EST would actually be one hour behind normal "watch" time

different networks, different times on different days for different motos.... who thinks up this crap? some corporate desk jockey who has never ridden a dirt bike? if this is a good idea then so is a stick in the eye. another summer of missing most of the outdoors....

Do you think that mx could step into the 90's with technology. And offer me a place to download the races so I can watch them on my own time.

Hands down by far the lamest track on the circuit, seen better tracks in peoples back yards.

Profile Picture
motokris wrote: 2:08pm May 26, 2012

KTMtrooper, you live under a rock? All 4 motos are available on Alli a few days after the race. What 90's were you living in, there was never any online MX or other sports available online, most people still had dial up at that time.

I am real curious why Davey has not addressed these issues during the week. It appears he has ducked from all the issues going on and is now patting himself on the back for such a great job. Wow MX Sports trying to compete with stick and ball sports and corporate America. Nice!

Profile Picture
SuperSquid wrote: 7:27pm May 26, 2012

Does anyone on this message board know anything about the broadcasting industry? NBC sports reaches a much larger audience than Speed, can pay more for the content, and that is better for the sport in general. The fans may not benefit from this rightr away, but MX is WAY better off than it was just five years ago. Someone is doing something right.

HE stupid SuperSquid,,,,five years ago i was watching Ricky racing every weekend , sometimes live....NOw i get absolutely nothing on TV!!! If the racing in the AMA is so great then why is it not even on TV??? BETTER NOW?????
