Blake Wharton decided to get surgery on his shoulder last year which left him out of racing for 5 months. When Blake returned to riding it was on a new team, Rockstar Energy Suzuki, and a new number. Blake talks about his return from injury, being on a new bike, how he chose his new number, and also his thoughts on Bret Michaels' song "Get Your Ride On".

I really like Blake, he is a little differant, dances to his own beat, quiet and puts in the work.. he will get faster as the year goes on, could be a winner at any race, as he seems to have the talent...Gotta root for a Suzuki guy...they need all the help they can get....so lets see Wharton and Bogle dicen beside Barcia and Roczen...then the PC boys and Mookie...Indy ought to be good !!!
Blake is my fav for sure this year. He races hard, believes in himself and doesn't make any excuses. Plus he's fast as hell. I would love to see him break Bam Bam's run.
I am a big fan of Wharton. I hear a lot of trash talk on him from people saying he's a tool or whatever, but I like how he's his own person. He seriously doesn't care what anybody else thinks. He's having a solid year, and I think with some healthy shoulders he's going to keep getting faster, especially through the outdoor season. Nice guy, unique style and personality, and let's his riding do the talking.
Yep Rad Dude... Very modest and Very Skilled...
Ya I talked to him and his mother in Anahiem very nice people.
I think Blake is a great kid!....his laid back attitude reminds me of alot guys in the 70's. The high three digit number is cool...the fact that it's Jesse Masterpool's number is even cooler! I would love to see Blake on top of the box....especially if he beats Barcia to do it!
Congrats to Mr. Francis for his selection of music for this video....it's the first time I've heard decent music in a vid since Cox left.
I saw in the preview that he was going to talk about the gay Brett Michaels song and I was like ; o finally we can hear a rider tell this nut bag how much of a poser he is and he doesnt belong in the sport, but it didnt work out that way. In fact I think Blake is the only one you will ever hear say he doesnt mind that song
Blake is a realy cool kid, i'm more talented in music than mx, but love mx more so i kind of see myself in him when i was younger, what if i were good enough to make a living at racing...best of luck for Indy!!
@blueoctober....Why would you say Bret doesn't belong in the sport. I thought that was the unique this about mx, the diverse crowd of people it atracts. I remember my first couple race I pitted next to guys who had fifty to a hundred thousand $ setups. I had a $600 pick up and a stool for a bike stand. Stuck up rich people who look down on riders who don't have a lot of cash are the posers! Two years later I was smokin all the pretty boyz out there.
Perfect background song. Alice In Chains still rocks ballz even today. Great vid!
Yes Blake is cool. Got the chance to chat with him @ Spring Creek a couple years ago. Very approachable and even after he had a bike problem, he still took the time to chat. Good guy-great racer=good for the sport.
This was a good interview that went horribly wrong when Bret Michaels got brought up. Contrary to what Blake said, I don't think he is good for the sport. From my point of view it weakens the image of the sport and quite frankly makes the whole Speed production look amateur.
@its nice to see someone FINALLY use the Suzuki well. Decent kid ...keeps his lips shut and gives a 100% on the track.... refreshing attitude. @731chop I think Bret is sour grapes for musicianwannabe/poser/riders...he's only on for a few seconds on the FREE SX coverage...its not that big a deal unless your just jealous or just need SOMETHING/ANYTHING to bi^*h about. He likes the sport , he is a songwriter (like it or not)so what is he REALLy doing so wrong. Time it ...it i'll bet hes on less than 10 seconds.Go Wharton.
I met Blake in Phoenix and he was a very cool and humble dude who actually took the time to chat with me. Would love to see him keepin that Suzuki on the box! Good work this weekend man!!
