Three-Peat for Barcia and Pro Taper
March 6, 2012 10:40am
Corona, CA – With three races of the 2012 Monster Energy AMA Supercross East Coast Series in the books, Pro Taper’s Justin Barcia remains undefeated. This week’s win came in front of the jubilant Edward Jones Dome crowd in St. Louis, MO.
Coming off of dominating wins in Arlington and Atlanta, the defending East Coast Lites Champion came out swinging in St. Louis. In the afternoon qualifying sessions Barcia was just edged out for the top spot by rookie prodigy Justin Bogle. Following suit of his Lites class teammates, Kevin Windham notched a solid top three qualifying time in the 450cc class, setting himself up for a great evening of racing.
In the Lites main event, Pro Taper’s Barcia launched out to the early lead and never looked back. The Geico Honda rider led all 15 laps in route to his third win in a row. He now sits 18 points ahead of the field and looks to be in the drivers seat of his title defense run. Teammate Justin Bogle was in route to another career best ride, but a crash on the final lap bumped him off the podium. Justin remounted in time to salvage a respectable fifth place. MotoConcepts Racing/Pro Taper backed Jake Canada put together his best ride of the season. Canada finished up a solid sixth place after running fourth for the majority of the main event. Malcolm Stewart and Kyle Cunningham also put their Pro Taper equipped bike inside the top ten in St. Louis.
It was no secret that Kevin Windham was not happy with his performance in his 200th main event last week in Atlanta. Kevin rebounded this weekend with a top three in qualifying, a solid heat race and a season best matching fourth place in the main event. Pro Taper would also like to commend Brett Metcalfe and Nick Wey on their top ten performances.
Next stop is at the infamous Daytona International Speedway this Saturday, March 10th. Be sure to tune in to Pro Taper’s social media sites for updates throughout the day at all of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross races.
