Riders

Although the bikes and riders have yet to touch the dirt today in San Diego, the day’s action has already began. In the stadium, the track crew is about to get to work on a racing surface that was uncovered when a dose of rain came through in the early morning hours. In the pits, teams are busy prepping bikes for a possible mud race to the sound of engines bumping off the rev limiter in sound check.
Tonight promises to deliver more great racing in what has already been a fantastic season. Chad Reed won here last year in the mud, while Eli Tomac topped the Lites class for the first supercross win of his career. Will history repeat itself once again?
With a wet track, cloudy skies and a 20 percent chance of rain in the forecast, the stage is set for a tremendous night of action. Be sure to follow us on Twitter, @racerxonline, and keep checking Racer X Online for updates throughout the day.

Check out youtube.com/premiermoto for Qualcomm videos and interviews with the riders. Stewarts interview is already up!

@huntweiss

I don't know which was worse, the interview or the music in between the different clips. Get some hidden camera footage type stuff where they will actually talk normally vs the regular pitch they always give to any question asked.

The rain looks like it knocked the edge off everything and even though looks can be deceiving... those whoops don't look very exciting.

Didn't I read somewhere that when the rules and reg's for SX were originally (76ish) written, that the lap time must be no shorter than one minute. It seems like they have consistently come down to this now (40) second lap times. I am an outdoors kinda guy to begin with, and do not have a huge appreciation for adulterating the true sport of motocross with this Americanization of the original mother sport... called Supercross. Supercross has it's place, I realize the all-mighty buck and packing 75,000 frenzied fans on caffeine in a soup bowl makes several people very wealthy..blah, blah, blah...
That said, is this not a sign of the times to where open bikes are really going to become a determent on a track so small, and a 250F is really the ideal machine for this specific application.
Just sayin...
PS Nice Pre-Race Update, Aaron Hansel

I like the way the red arrow uses the very last whoop as a jump and clears the bigger one.

Do you guys mean the whoops that end at the base of the face of a triple? From what I can see there's not a foot between the last whoop and the take-off for that triple.....and you guys want to make the whoops bigger and scarier? What are you guys....NASCAR fans looking for a crash to make things exciting?

Qual. times (on Twitter) just a few ticks above mid 40's...

I wrote earlier this week about my friends son and how hard it is to qualify for a sx. He is in the C group in the lites class. The update is he qualified tonight for san diego and sits in 28th. 1st heat race tonight. Anything can happen thats why we race on dirt and not on paper. Hope he makes the main. He is on a 2008 rmz 250f. I just wonder how he would do on a pro circuit 2012 kawi and let him ride the press day for xtra practice on friday am. He was pretty close against the odds...Just wondering..LOL..anyways cant wait to see him on live tv be pretty cool #276 on a 2008
